An online hotel booking system should let a guest choose a room, understand the full price and receive a reliable confirmation without calling reception. For a Malaysian independent hotel, the launch test should follow that complete journey, including what staff see after the booking lands.

Use a real test reservation on both a phone and a laptop. Record the result of each check and assign someone to fix failures before promoting the booking link.

Check the guest journey

  1. Property and dates: Can a guest identify the correct hotel, choose dates and change them without starting again?
  2. Room descriptions: Do names, occupancy, bed configuration and photos match what the hotel can actually provide?
  3. Rate inclusions: Is breakfast, parking or any other inclusion clear before payment?
  4. Total price: Does the final amount show the correct currency and applicable charges before the guest commits?
  5. Policies: Can the guest find cancellation, amendment, deposit and arrival rules at the decision point?
  6. Phone usability: Are date selectors, payment fields and confirmation readable on a small screen?

If a guest pauses at the price or policy step, inspect that step before adding more promotional copy. The booking abandonment guide explains how to diagnose the drop-off.

Check what happens behind the button

  1. Live availability: Make a test booking and confirm the room count changes in the PMS and connected sales channels as expected.
  2. Rate mapping: Test one weekday, one weekend and a restricted date for every important room and rate plan.
  3. Payment outcome: Test the configured successful-payment path and the failed-payment path. Do not mark an unpaid reservation as paid.
  4. Guest message: Does the confirmation include dates, room, amount, booking reference, property contact and the applicable conditions?
  5. Staff handoff: Can reception find the booking, payment status, guest request and source without opening several systems?
  6. Changes and cancellation: Follow the guest instructions and check how a modification or cancellation updates inventory and records.

Test these points after changing room types, policies or payment settings, not only on launch day. A mismatch between a website offer and PMS setup can create a dispute that the booking page alone cannot resolve. The room type mapping guide covers a related inventory risk.

Make the launch measurable

Keep a simple weekly record: direct booking visits, completed reservations, failed payments and the most common questions to reception. Compare like periods, and investigate a sudden change before assuming demand has changed.

If the journey fails at one step, fix that step and retest the whole booking. Ask for a demonstration of the eZee booking engine using your own room and rate rules, or book a walkthrough with your team.
